Hanoi’s Thang Long Avenue, the longest and most modern of its kind in Vietnam, is not only covered by dust and waste but it is uneven and with many unprotected holes. These may become traps at night.

The avenue was inaugurated several weeks ago but many works has not been completed so the road is still untidy.

The road surface has a lot of cracks.

It is uneven at some places.

The separation line is incomplete…

… and it is covered by pieces of concrete.

A section of handrail broken after an accident.

Local people have dismantled some sections of handrails to create passages.

Many people go back up the road.

As overpasses are unfinished, pedestrians have to cross the road.

Workers are working in dangerous environment.

Vendors along the road.

A half-done flyover.

An incomplete tunnel.

Open pits.

A poor quality bridge.

Dust and rubbish on the road.

Dust spreads over whenever a car passes.

In a tunnel.

A whirlwind of dust.
