Deputy Minister of Transport Le Manh Hung said that new driving licenses will be issued in the northern province of Bac Ninh and the central city of Da Nang from March 2012.

The official said that the Ministry of Transport approved the new type of driving license, which is produced by modern technologies to prevent counterfeiting.
The new kind of driving licenses will be in Vietnamese and English. Driver portraits will be printed directly on the license.
The Ministry of Transport has issued 30.9 million driving licenses to date, including 2.9 million auto driving licenses. These driving licenses will be still valid. Only licenses that are torn or expired will be replaced by licenses of the new form.
Changing new forms of driving licenses is one of the key tasks of the Ministry of Transport in 2012, besides inspecting driving examination centers.
