IAEA , OFID help VN fight cancer

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) have agreed to help Việt Nam control cancer, especially for women through the Program of Action for Cancer Therapy (PACT).
OFID Director General J.Al-Herbish handed over US $450,000 to IAEA Director General Yukiya Amono to realize the project.
The PACT has been implemented since 2004 to help low and middle income countries to deal with increasing cancer cases.
Together with other partners, IAEA continues its commitment to controlling cancer all over the world and it has successfully implemented PACT in Ghana, Zambia, Uruguay, Albania, Nicaragua and Tanzania.
OFID has provided the non-refundable aid to US $800,000 over the past three years and supplied US $15 million in loan through IAEA.
The World Cancer Day helps raise awareness of cancer and promotes the fight against cancer, emphasized IAEA Director General Amano.
Over the past 32 years, IAEA has spent more than US $250 million supplying services, equipment, and training courses to medical staffs and improving the capacity to cancer prevention and and treatment in developing countries.
