Many onlookers have flocked to an alley in Ho Chi Minh City’s Phu Nhuan District to admire the beauty of blooming apricot with 120-130 petals for each flower.

The flowers of the plant, owned by the 60-year-old local resident Pham VanTien, also takes after that of raspberry daisy with many layers of bright yellow petals arranged in round shape when blooming.

Besides, the buds of the flower are rounded and not as long as the other apricot buds.

Tien said he chose to buy this plant from a garden in the Mekong Delta two months ago for VND5 million.
A ornamental tree enthusiast in Thu Duc Dsitrict said the plant is not a strange one given biological advancement. The flower may be a hybrid crossbred from many kinds of existing apricot flowers or a result of natural selection.
It may originate from Ben Tre province, he said.
