The Binh An Aquaculture Joint Stock Company inaugurated the country’s first private aquaculture research institute in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on July 30.
The institute will focus its tasks on developing and applying new technologies in genetic research, production of seafood varieties and feed as well as preventative medicines for shrimps, fish and other biological products.
The institute is also prioritising researching foreign markets, building strategies to expand their distribution networks, developing products, processing and exports as well as setting up advanced management models and supporting businesses and farmers to use e-commerce and new technologies to achieve sustainable growth in the country’s aquaculture industry.
The Ministry of Science and Technology has granted 2.5 billion VND to the institute to train managers and research staff.
