Mrs. Nhung, in hamlet 7, Quynh My commune, said that on February 19, she fed her chickens in the morning as usual. Looking into the coop, she saw the cock lying down on some straw. Thinking that the cock was ill, she caught the cock and saw an egg as big as a finger under him. 

Nhung called her neighbors to come see the strange egg, and all were very surprise. The egg has a big and a small head, around 2cm long and it does not have yolk.

Dr. Phung Duc Tien, Director of the Thuy Phuong Center for Poultry Research in Hanoi, said that this is not a strange phenomenon.

“There are bisexual chickens, but they are hens in nature. These chickens have anomalous sex organs, so they have crest and they look like cocks,” Tien explained.

Tien added that it is very rare to see hens in the shape of a cock and such chickens can lay egg.
