IT experts said that the establishment of the National Committee on IT, chaired by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, is “the most important IT event of 2012.”

PM Nguyen Tan Dung visits Hanoi's Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park on February 13.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong said that the National Steering Board on Information Technology and Communications will be upgraded into the National Committee on IT and Communications.
“The establishment of the National Committee on IT and Communications is expected to create the new position and strength for the development of the ICT industry, especially when the Central Party Committee’s 4th Resolution affirms that ICT is the soft infrastructure in the social-economic foundation and the infrastructure of all infrastructures,” Hong said.
At a workshop last year, Dr. Mai Liem Truc, former Deputy Minister of Information and Communication, said: “The first solution to promote IT development from the state is a political determination. The state always says to support IT development, but top officials have not directly given instruction and seen it as a daily task.”
“This will be the most important information in the ICT industry of Vietnam. It proves the PM’s political determination in developing and modernizing the country by using IT,” commented Dr. Truc--on the information that the PM is the chairman of the National Committee on IT and Communications.
