Over 170 members were listed in Top 500 richest people on Vietnam’s stock market in 2011 with the domination of representatives of real estate companies who occupied over 20% of all positions in the ranking list, the local newswire VnExpress reported.

Along with Top 100, Top 300 families and Top 50 rich ladies on the stock market, VnExpress continued releasing the list of top 500 richest people with a view to provide overall and full overview on private ownership status in Vietnam’s listed firms.
Compared with the first list announced one year ago, Top 500 richest people on Vietnam’s stock market in 2011 had 172 new members that mainly appeared in the positions from the 200th to the 500th. However, the list still saw the domination of real estate shareholders despite the slump of stock market during last year.
In which, 105 people represented for real estate development companies, followed by 40 representatives of steel makers, 34 of agricultural and seafood sector, 23 were shareholders of banks, 17 of investment services and 13 of food industry, and others.
The fall of stock market made total assets of Top 500 richest people decline to 64.470 trillion dong (in which 55.2 trillion dong belonged to Top 100), a drop of 40% compared with 2010’s 106 trillion dong. The sum of assets was equal to 14% of capitalization of all listed companies.
The person who ranked at the bottom of the 2011 list of Top 500 richest people had assets of 8.5 billion dong, decreasing sharply compared with the respective position of the previous year’s list (14 billion dong). Based on the State Bank of Vietnam’s converted forex rate, Vietnam’s stock market had over 260 US dollar millionaires, down a half against the figure of 450 in 2010. The list included 60 rich people aged below 40.
The list of Top 500 richest people on the stock market in 2011 was built based on information, financial reports and statements of 720 listed companies by VnExpress. This was the second consecutive year VnExpress announced the list with the support of VNDIRECT Securities Co as data provider.
Since the end of 2011, VnExpress in turn announced Top 100, Top 50 and Top 30 richest people on the stock market. In which, the owner of VINGROUP, Mr Pham Nhat Vuong kept leading with total asset of 16.764 trillion dong. His wife Pham Thu Huong led the list of Top 50 richest ladies on the stock market with assets of 2.890 trillion dong worth of VIC coded shares. Total assets (21.574 trillion dong) of Mr Vuong family topped the list of 30 richest families on the stock market.
